What a shit! I swear I can’t be surprised and generally ignore his antics but there’s always another, scummier, act.

Wow, I made a dumb, tired mistake regarding the year that Trump took office and now I’m an anti-semite? I don’t see how you can even make that leap, even though the subject had to do with Iseael. I wasn’t defending him, in fact, my mistaken comment was intended to point out that his actions were even worse.

I’m not a Trumper and am certainly not an anti-semite. Don’t throw around accusations like that so casually. It’s dangerous for many reasons.

That is a quote by sartre about the use of nonsense in arguments, hence my footnote.

If you made an honest mistake, I apologize, but please tell me honestly you haven’t seen people make similar false arguments on purpose.

All I’m trying to say is that you should be more careful with throwing out accusations of racism. I have seen people make nonsense arguments in bad faith, yes, but I generally try to refute their point rather than label them as racist without some kind of evidence. I prefer to assume that people are mistaken rather than malicious bigots until proven otherwise.

I appreciate that anti-semitism is a legitimate problem, but calling people anti-semites over so little dilutes your arguments for when you actually do encounter one. It’s similar to conservatives calling anyone they disagree with “woke”. Overuse of the term makes it less impactful when you actually encounter someone who deserves to be labeled an anti-semite. It also “proves” to conservatives that the “left” just throws around names and labels without justification and makes it more difficult to have a reasonable discussion.

Just be more careful with tossing out loaded terms until you have something more definitive than a single mistaken sentence. It only feeds the division and does nothing to solve the current problems.
