children used to always ask me if i was a boy or a girl. i would tell them to guess lol. it would terrify their parents.
Way before intersex/nonbinary/trans people were even culturally accepted to exist in the west, I remember a classmate in early grade school that asked me to guess if they were a girl or a boy.
They didn’t ever tell me either way but they were pretty all the same.
That was in the early 80s, right when the HIV/AIDs bigot frenzy was in full swing
I hope they’ve had a good life and are safe and well.

A specter is haunting parents -the specter of anti-cisnormativity.
i need to get my boobs removed to i can confuse the children again
I used to confuse adults too before they heard my voice.
I really flummoxed the doctor that gave me my first COVID shot. Came in with an androgynous outfit + mask and gave him my passport which still has my deadname on it. He opened it and even after I confirmed that that was my name he still couldn’t get why it says “male” right under it until I told him that I was trans. Hardest I’ve ever male-failed. Not even my untrained voice clued him in.
You was trans? You mean, at some point you switched back to cis? That’s quite unusual.
I used to be trans. I still am, but I used to be, too.
It gets even better. As soon as I figured out how English grammar around tempora works I immediately turned trans again. Astonishing!
