While the new UI offers mostly a bloatware-free experience, it’s the ads that are annoying. For starters, the pre-installed Weather App, although can be deleted, is LOADED with ads. The ad loading also causes the app to feel super jittery and slow. So, I’d get rid of that first. Secondly, it’s the Moto Hub, which is actually a hub of ugly ads and shady app recommendations.

There’s a Moto Hub home screen widget as well, which comes preloaded and shows ads. Moto Hub also spams you with not-so-appealing notifications. So, that’s the second thing you’d want to force stop since you can’t uninstall.

I am so tired of companies being allowed to shove ads everywhere!

I miss the Moto Z days. Those were some excellent phones and being able to slap an extra battery on the back was amazing. Mods could’ve gone so much further if they put some more R&D in it

I do. Companies do seem to be adding them everywhere. Eventually everything will showcase ads because not enough consumers were against it. Apps that are part of the OS, imo, should not have any ads, regardless of price point for the device.

Unfortunately, it will end up in companies double-dipping. Once consumers accept adds, you will see more of them, and for sure the money they get from ads is not fully reflected in the price reduction.

Sounds like the ads are limited to a couple of nonessential applications that can be disabled or uninstalled, so I don’t think these are contradictory statements.

No, it’s still there. Just more customisable. You can also change the Control centre so its similar to stock android instead of IOS/colorOS/HyperOS.

Unfortunately, updates take a long time to arrive. The reviewer has yet to receive an official software update. He has also been dealing with an annoying call bug. Nothing phone 2a in comparison has received multiple updates to fix issues. Get a nothing or pixel if you want Stock android look and feel while getting some semblance of software support.

Bloatware-free as in 3rd party apps like Instagram, Facebook, etc. Now, 1st party apps having ads are a different thing all together.
