Rudd said the same things as what I was writing so I’m stealing his post 😉

The 0.18 version of Lemmy was announced. This will solve many issues.
But we can’t upgrade yet because the captcha was removed, and captcha relied on Websockets, which are removed in 0.18 so despite the devs agreeing on my request to add captcha back, this will not be until 0.18.1. Without captcha we will be overrun by bots.
Hopefully this 0.18.1 will be released soon, because another issue is that the newest version of the Jerboa app won’t work with servers older than 0.18. So if you’re on Lemmy.world, please (temporarily) use another app or the web version.
You can “install” Reddthat via your browser and it gives you a little Lemmy shortcut called a PWA (progressive web app).
It’s super neat. Try it out if Jerboa is failing too often!
Heh, I just posted on my Friendica about my experience trying to get here on Android, which boils down to can’t use Reddtha on Android. Friefox won’t log in, Lemmur says that the instance doesn’t exist, Jerboa from F-droid crashes on launch and the above problem happens with Jerboa from the PlayStore.
there are a couple more apps you can try
Thanks, grabbed a few, now we see what happens… Hopefully not an Earth shattering kaboom
I’m using thunder and it’s a much better experience
Oooo, on fdroid as well! Thought it was a ios only app.
Downloads straight to my phone. Hey its pretty snazzy. I like it.
Oh no!
Apparently if you clear app data, and go aeroplane mode until you get the pop-up you can get around the initial crash of Jerboa. The fact that you can’t login though on Firefox is weird. Try resetting your password to less than 20 characters, (there is a UI bug with this).
It seems to be a Firefox bug, I was able to log in fine using Samsung’s browser, though that’s less than ideal since I generally don’t use that. The Jerboa crash thing is weird, both F-Droid and Play have the same version number, but it’s only F-droid’s that crashes. I’ve tried pulling earlier versions, but they either crash or have the same 0.18 issue.
So… its live. Who else is enjoying this!?
