Lol, this guy Alexander Smirnov is going to get on a fucking boat and sail away, he’s a flight risk and he’ll end up back in Israel.

He’s an ex-FBI informant that has been accused of ties to Russian spies, and has been successfully spreading these stories across conservative media in America, sowing more chaos and creating division while smarmy fucks like Sean Hannity thrive on repeating the lies.

Putin will give this guy a reward like he did to Maria Butina after she compromised the NRA and the Republicans.

The justice department says that he disclosed his intelligence contacts to his FBI handler, saying he could use those connections - which prosecutors described as " extensive and extremely recent" - to leave the US.

Gym Jordan will ultimately end up with a slap on the wrist after it’s determined that this was Russian propaganda.

Funny how all of these people are allowed to go back to Russia or Israel while Assange (yes, I know he’s a piece of shit, but that’s beside the point) wasn’t allowed to go to Ecuador.

What kind of news site uses a pre-law student at a university for a quote? Article was alright until that point. That’s some Fox News level garbage.

That and doxing a national security journalist. Newsweek used to be considered a decent news source.

Newsweek has been on a right-wing bent for a while. Has to do with its more recent owners.

It’s barely better than Fox News, now, and about on par with The Hill.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Ohio congressman Jim Jordan could face major repercussions over the Republican attempt to impeach Joe Biden after a former FBI informant charged with making false bribery claims against the president was accused of using Russian intelligence, legal experts suggest.

The highly disputed claims that Biden financially benefited from his son’s foreign business dealings while he was vice president, including accusations of taking bribes, have been cited by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jordan and other Republican figures in their impeachment proceedings.

A number of legal experts and Democratic figures have now suggested Jordan and other Republicans could face consequences if it is found Russian intelligence was the source of the alleged false bribery claims they said justified the impeachment of Biden.

Maryland rep. Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, had previously called on the GOP to drop their impeachment case against Biden following news of Smirnov’s indictment for allegedly lying about the bribery claim.

The court filings about Smirnov’s apparent dealings with Russian intelligence officials were submitted as the government tried to argue he should remain in custody following his arrest on February 14 at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel Albregts allowed Smirnov to be freed from custody on Tuesday with pre-trial conditions, including that he must remain in Nevada’s Clarke County and that he must not try to apply for a new Israeli passport after volunteering to hand his current one over to authorities.
