I’m still amazed how well they managed to pull off part 1. There are really good reasons why Dune was known as an “unfilmable” franchise. But by Shai Hulud, they fuckin’ did it.

It’s too much to hope for, but there’s not much I wouldn’t give to see them continue making more of the books into movies.

Don’t wish too far down the line. After the Original author passed away and his son continued on in the series…well let’s just say the apple rolled a bit after it fell from the tree.

I’ve read all six of Frank Herbert’s Dune novels and nine more by Brian Herbert and Keith Anderson and I’m planning to continue. I’ll happily wish for as many movies as they could possibly make. Prelude to Dune in particular was an amazing series of novels. Probably among the more difficult to adapt into movies, but they’ve apparently done an amazing job with the two they’ve done so far.

I haven’t met or talked to many who have read any of Brian and Keith’s novels, but from my small sample size (and from my own personal experience), I get the impression not that they’re not bad, but polarizing. People either love them or hate them. The most hard-core Dune fan I know says he likes the Brian and Keith books better than Frank’s and he wishes they’d made the movies in chronological order – starting with Legends of Dune set 10,000 years before the first Frank Herbert novel and detailing the start of the Butlerian Jihad – rather than starting with the first Dune novel published. He also recommemds reading Dune in chronological not publication order.

Who wrote the one that’s thousands of years after, about when the god emperor dies?

That would be wild to see.

That’s God Emperor of Dune, and Frank Herbert (the original author) was the one who wrote it.

One of the best Reddit comments I ever saw was in response to the announcement that they were considering also adapting the second book. Someone just said “do God Emperor you cowards”.

      Context man…

She was a Disney/Nick kid, she is incredibly normal for her peer group. If she wants to dress as a stereotypical female protagonist from a DND RPG video game while attending the premier or an iconic sci-fi adaptation based on feudal society she has a significant lead role in, I say go for it.

Even if she goes bat shit crazy tomorrow, she held it together better than most of the kids that went thru that meat grinder.

Like isn’t her first costar now a coked out only fans model?

Zendaya is killing it in comparison

        Real context-

That dess/suit was made by the designer (Mugler) she has been wearing for a small series of outfits she has been wearing. This particular one was brought out of a museum just for this premiere and she even had to change out of it after doing the carpet walk. It was made in 1995, inspired by and modeled after the robot from Metropolis.

I know it is odd to have a bunch of nerds try and read about fashion, but it is interesting. It wasn’t some “look at me not be a disney kid” thing.

          Bella Thorne.

And it’s not even like she went crazy either tho. Just parties a lot and gets a lot of money for topless pictures to fund partying.

It’s not like I’m saying those child actors all grew up to be serial killers. It just doesn’t make sense to expect perfectly well adjusted adults out of them. Nothing about their childhoods were normal, and even if they weren’t abused, someone in their small peer group they were friends with did.

Gotta cut them some slack as long as they’re not hurting anyone.

To be fair, I’ve only read the books once years ago. But I DON’T Remember the glass and chrome bodysuit.

The shoulders, elbows, and knees actually look like decent armor joints; overlapping plates with decent bend room and interior cloth covers. I’m really hoping it’s some kind of stiff fabric because the entire hip/thigh region would be something awful in metal.

I think she changed outfits and this was just for the red carpet. I can’t imagine how she could move around and sit wearing that. She had 2 assistants just to help her walk to the center of the carpet.

I’m not saying they should be banned from attending the premiere, but man the spoiler from one of the cast attending is a bit of a bummer. Would’ve been great as a surprise for at least the general showing in a couple of weeks.

Sure, plot-wise there’s nothing else to spoil for me as a book reader. It was the casting that was a spoiler. I know there have been rumors for a while, but I brushed it off because it was impossible for that actor to be cast in that role if the book was followed. Then I read a coment on social media today of how they worked it in to fit the casting. It also means one important event will play out differently compared to the book. So that’s a spoiler.
