Hurricane Otis made landfall directly on Acapulco, Mexico, as a violent Category 5 storm on Wednesday, killing at least 27 people and causing extensive damage to the beach resort city.

    As we would say here in Florida, Acapulco got its ass kicked. A direct hit by a Cat 5 is no joke.

      The really scary bit is 24 hours before landfall it was a tropical storm.

      In 12 hours it went from tropical storm to a cat 4, going from 105kph to 233kph, then climbing up to 270kph winds before landfall.

      I’ve been in minor hurricanes and they were pretty freaky. I absolutely can’t even imagine what getting hit by a cat 5 must be like.
