Be aware that fulfilling this request would require you to sort of doxx yourself—you would not need to share any information with me, but when I receive any items in the mail they’re obviously going to have your return address on them. If that makes you uncomfortable, no worries.

In the interest of my friend’s safety though—I have a friend who lets me use their address to get mail—you’ll need to have a Matrix account. DM me for details.

Unless you happen to live in Portland, Oregon.

Anyways…

I want to get my driver’s license replaced, and the most significant hurdle will probably be the vision test.

I do not have a prescription and Medicaid doesn’t cover vision exams and honestly I don’t have the wherewithal for that. Once in a while I find glasses that work perfectly for me. I’m blown away by how different the world looks when I can see clearly. And then I fucking lose them.

There’s a particular style of frames that I really like, but idfk what to call them. They’re those big, thick glasses that a lot of people wore in the ‘80s/‘90s. Sort of like this:

As for my vision, it’s hard to say and I know I’m basically trawling for glasses in the hopes that I get a pair that work. I am nearsighted. Things start to get fuzzy at about 4-6 ft away. It’s gotten to the point where it’s hard to discern the faces of people walking by and stuff.

And my second request: a backup iPhone.

Currently I have an iPhone 12 Mini that this guy who worked at a coffee shop I go to gave to me. It’s still chugging along but I’m terrified one day it will crap out on me. Last November I sat on it or something while I was incredibly faded and did this to it:

Losing my phone is always a huge life moment for me. It happens maybe once every couple years and it’s always horrible. I am extremely dependent on my phone. It legit makes me the person I am—with no phone I’d be, in my own head at least, just another bum.

It has to be an iPhone, but it can be an iPhone 5 at the oldest.

Other Apple products—I’ve always wanted to replace the MacBook I parted ways with when I became homeless again—are also fun.

Move to a state where Medicaid gives you vision and dental, jeeze, that’s unbelievable that in Portland you can’t get glasses on Medicaid? I’m medically frail on Medicaid and only had to hunt for about a day to find a place that took Medicaid for eye exams and glasses.

Fyi America’s Best will do an eye exam plus two pairs of glasses for $80. Decent chance they have frames that look something like that.

That’s what I used when I was on the street (and still do). $80 is a lot but is still within some people’s mutual aid budgets.
