I think the Senate sometimes, oftentimes, fears anything that could be seen as partisan.

I’ll never understand this. There is a clear divide in parties. There is no working across the isle anymore. You can’t negotiate with someone who denies reality.

Yep, they’ve had a ton of chances to get roe made a federal law…and nothing. Even RBG said it was a weak ruling and needed a federal law to keep it from being revoked, but they didnt care because it’s a voting check for them.

Same reason republicans are horrified of fixing the border now. If you fix the problem you can’t use it as a Boogeyman to scare people into your agenda. I suspect when democrats say things like ‘you have to beat Trump at the polls’ when asked about prosecution are doing much the same strategy.

Edit: 10am monday, even the non fascist supreme court members just ruled trump cant be held to the law as written. 9-0 decision too.

Without a House in the control of the same party, the Senate majority is just helpful for getting judges etc confirmed. It’s not like they could be getting us universal Healthcare if only they believed in themselves more.

You should read articles before commenting. It’s not about passing laws and the Senate can do more than confirm judges. The Senate could be running investigations into the corruption of the Supreme Court or various other misdeeds in order to show the public they’re both going on and that Republicans are complicit.

We all saw what they blocked when they did have a house in control of the same party.

Trick question. The answer is that no party has a majority in the senate. Two independents caucus with 49 democrats to form the leadership structure, but that is not a party majority - merely a ruling coalition.

Kinda gets lost between the extremes of ‘insurrectionist’ and ‘genocide’, don’t you think?

The US Congress is legislative branch. Congress is divided into the Senate and House of Representatives.

What makes it confusing is that representatives are also referred to as “congressman” but senators are onky called senators. Despite both being members of Congress.
