In “Star Wars,” he said, “we learn that Luke Skywalker eventually had to confront Darth Vader.”

“He couldn’t sit back and just wait for the Force or Han Solo to take care of it for him,” Heye added. “So, Ron DeSantis, a Tim Scott, a Mike Pence, if they want to win the nomination, goes through Donald Trump and you have to confront him. You can’t hope that somebody else will do it for you. Hope is never a political strategy.”

This is a really weird analogy. If you watch ESB Luke decided to confront Vader largely because Han was a hostage. As for the force, who isn’t a character, the old guard (Yoda and Ben) didn’t want Luke to confront Vader. OK, maybe not the worst analogy after all.

And essentially nothing happened to Vader, while Luke ended up in the diaper tank.

The message isn’t wrong, if any other Republican wants the 2024 nomination, Trump has to either be out of the running, or lose to them.

For Trump to be out of the running, he has to either:

      • Finally have the party wake up to his actual criminality and horribleness and turn away from him, or
      • Drop out of the race on his own, or
      • Die.

For Trump to remain in the running, but lose, he has to:

      • Finally have the party wake up to his actual criminality and horribleness and turn away from him.

Right now, in this moment, the party is firmly behind him, even if a good portion of high-ranking Republican politicians are not. In order for the party to turn away from him, there has to come a tipping point. Something has to happen, or come to light, that causes people to change their minds. Considering all the things Trump has done, and that his popularity has only grown, I cannot fathom what such a thing could possibly be.

Honestly, the far and away most likely way for Trump to not get the 2024 nomination is for him to die.

I think he’s referring to RotJ.

Still not a perfect analogy, but it’s the RotJ plot where he knows who Vader is now, and doesn’t want to confront and kill his own father, but that’s what he has to do.

Having not read the article: So is he supposed to be Palatine? Then what, pence, his second in command would be Vader, who did turn to the light side and get Biden (correctly) in by not destroying him? … So now, are we waiting for uh… Biden’s nephew/niece to turn Republican, and a secret trump grandkid to turn them back and restoring balance?

Does that make most of Congress Jarjar?

    This is definitely not podracing.

Might have been nice if the republican traitor filth hadn’t created this monster in the first place.

The mounting indictments against Trump have only “bizarrely” reinforced among Republicans the former president’s false messages that “the system is rigged” and “there’s a two-tier system of justice,” veteran strategist Heye said

But that’s not really a false message, is it? Because clearly the system is rigged

This shows the two tier system of justice, just not how they think. Rich people vs everyone else. The kid gloves used here are covered in bubble wrap.
