Again a reminder of Rule 1:

Be nice to each other (e.g. No direct insults against each other)

It’s not a nice way of talking to each other, and if I see another thread of people just insulting each other, this will result in a 1-day-Ban for both parties involved.

If you get insulted, report it, instead of insulting back

Corrected title: Glass in front of Mona Lisa splattered in soup at Louvre Museum in Paris by food protesters

This happens so often it’s kinda like a publicity button protestors can push for headlines.

I see it becoming a tradition. When people are upset with something they throw soup at mona lisa. There will be an extra line just for this activity und windshield washer will be installed. Museum can even make some money by selling soup.

Funny enough the GOP claims to be against cancel culture but simultaneously manages to completely ignore all relevant historical happenings as if we were starting off fresh.

No. Just people who dont want to think about the consequences of a climate crisis feel the urge to hate such people

Every reasonable human relates with the message they send.

There is a word for the former… right. Ignorant.

I fully agree we should be doing a lot more against climate change. The whole world should be.

That said these kind of protesters always look like clowns to me. Especially when their ‘protest’ is just to inconvenience the general public by blocking roads or pouring coloured liquid on something. You’re not solving anything just being a cunt.

You can still dislike these people if you don’t think they are making a difference. If they are not achieving results, these actions are just a detriment for everyone.

The “normal” forms of protest just don’t cut it anymore. When is the last time you’ve heard about one, let alone seen one? It’s a (relatively) harmless shout for attention for a very dire problem.

the german farmers did a “normal” protest (with roadblocks and running over police officers) and instantly got the politicians to act in their favor.

Sounds like the Dutch and Germans aren’t that different after all. Ours also ran over stuff with their tractors, blocked highways, rammed the main entrance of a city hall, and did some casual intimidation at a politician’s home address. Peaceful folk they are.

This inconvenience can have a strong force if you piss enough people off. The other option would be ecoterrorism e.g. destroy the next refinery. Well nobody would get the message because the media would frame it as terrorism.

There are so many political decisions not done properly because the majority of people still doesnt care.

Everybody said that greta thunberg is a cunt the way shes used/doing her stuff.

Well few years later the topic is much more within common media than before. This is a success although she got the hate.

          And one comment

fully agree we should be doing a lot more against climate change. The whole world should be

If you say that. Do you mean it?

What would you do to do more against climate crisis? And dont come with personal things. Those are helping nobody as far as your own inconveniences.

Everything which targets more than a single person is required.

They aren’t quite there yet. They’ve gone from “someone should do something” to “we should do something”.

They still have to get through “I should do something” and “this is what I’m doing

If my country stopped using fossils today. I mean not using any at all ever again, that reduction would be wiped out by the increase in China in less than two weeks.

And this is not to criticise China. We have a much higher standard of living, so I fully expect them to want to catch up.

They don’t even directly reference climate, but

What’s the most important thing?" they shouted. “Art, or right to a healthy and sustainable food?”

They added: “Our farming system is sick. Our farmers are dying at work.”

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece was left covered in what appeared to be tomato soup while the protesters made a speech about sustainable agriculture and the food supply chain.

Videos on social media show the activists wearing T-shirts with the words “Food Counterattack” written on them in French.

French farmers have been protesting and threatening roadblocks around Paris this month, demanding better pay and living conditions, Reuters reported.

The Mona Lisa has been the target of a number of protests and acts of vandalism over the years and has been protected by bulletproof glass since the 1950s after one person threw acid at it.

In 2009, a “disgruntled Russian woman” who had been denied French citizenship also threw a ceramic mug at the painting, per Harper’s Bazaar.

In 2022, anti-oil protesters targeted the UK’s National Gallery, throwing a can of tomato soup onto one of Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” paintings.
