In a sense, people disagree with one another to put each other down, but that’s a very Abelardian reach. Abelard wasn’t exactly good to himself as a result of his overextrapolation.

Abelard was, in brief, a monk with a crush who believed his feelings would send him to hell. Never acted on them, past a certain point, but castrated himself because of his “sins.” He obsessed about nonexistent sleights of his and others until it made him extremely mentally ill. And a cornerstone of modern philosophy. His letters are an interesting read, and public domain translations are available.

Social dominance theory is very real but severely overextrapolated here. Fundamentally, it’s a group dynamic that doesn’t apply to a website hosting a largely young, neurodivergent crowd where the only rule is “don’t be mean.” Your comment, in the 4chan community, reads like a call to action so it was taken poorly. Especially given that this greentext was, with nearly 100% likelihood, written specifically to further radicalize disaffected kids.

I’m suggesting that you read too much into the idea, friend. It’s not healthy. It gets better after high school, I can assure you, as long as you’re not in rural USA or a company like Amazon.

Quit reading fanfiction about dead monks.

You’ll never understand why I find this as funny as I do, but your simplification is endearing. It’s been a while so I could only remember Abelard’s appreciation for the act, but you’re right. However, I really don’t see this conversation becoming productive as I’m not a counselor or anything of the sort, and you seem to need someone trustworthy to talk to. Some rando on the internet can’t replace interpersonal relationships. I sincerely hope you find what you need as, satire or not, everyone deserves it.
