Is it true your dentists file your teeth down to stubs and then put plastic on the front to make them look good? If so is that really good dentistry?

It also sort of “feels” worse to me. Like a website wrapped in an app rather than something native. Don’t know if it’s related to the rendering or the UI elements. Just doesn’t feel good.
