Just because movies are about silly things doesn’t mean that the professionals that work on them aren’t allowed to put more into their work.

People are really bad at knowing what is expected income and what is bonus income. I know multiple workplaces where they get PISSED if their bonus is delayed/lower than last year. It doesn’t make sense to me, but it seems common.

I do agree with you about the ick of it all, especially with it winning the tony like you mentioned. I think musicals have a weird relationship with reality, which can make creepy characters/situations hit different people in different ways.
