I’m not going to agree with you on this. I think it’s unfortunate that your focus is on the assumption that it’s a purely white and cis male dominated decision; without providing any evidence that the museum is run strictly by cis white men.
Furthermore, you focus on problematic behavior; which is important to document completely if we are trying to present that history in a complete and educational manner that allows us to avoid repeating past mistakes. There should be no room for censorship in education, because that’s how bigotry, racism and such will breed…in the shadows of ignorance that the censorship casts upon it’s recipients.
Does the museum have an ethical obligation to do the following? 1. Make the artist’s racist history, and apology, public at the show and in its publicity; 2. Allocate profits from the show to a program that benefits local Black artists; 3. Ask the artist to fund an art department in a historically Black college or university.
I think the museum may be wise to warn patrons that the content of the art is potentially offensive to people. They may also inform the viewers that the views and concepts expressed in the artwork may not reflect how the artist currently feels. They are a product of history, a sign of the times of when the artwork was created and based off of.
They may choose to provide as much additional context to the art as needed to ensure people are warned about what may be viewed as offensive these days. I see no reason to censor or soften the art though.
People do deserve the right of some content warning though; so that they may practice appropriate viewer discretion. Nobody needs their day ruined by unexpected racism, in a content context when they’re not mentally prepared for it, and informed of the historical context in which it was expressed.
If the art otherwise stands out and expresses a worthwhile message; I think racism can be safely ignored by a prepared viewer who understands that the racist messaging is not okay by modern standards and is willing to look past it to see the other themes in the art work. I don’t believe any museum of a respectable nature would present this art if it did not have some redeeming quality; as they’re typically concerned with preserving our history. Hiding the darker facets of our history, such as racism, from our descendants will only ensure that they repeat those mistakes.
As for points 2 and 3; I think this decision should be left up to the museum and the artist as a whole. I wouldn’t expect contributions to a charity to offset the harms; nor do I feel they would genuinely “offset” the racism in the art. Let the art stand alone, in it’s darkness and it’s light, separate from it’s artist and the museum presenting it. Judge the art alone.
It is okay to dislike an art piece but still have learned something from it; or to appreciate parts of it’s message but not others.

This kind of nonsense is why I bypass the NYT’s paywall, and any other paywall. If I wanted to ever subscribe; this ensures that I will want to subscribe far less intensely than I would have ever naturally done. Probably this ensures the urge to subscribe will be non-existant; and my urge to ‘become a Giant Tool and just crawl their site daily with my paywall bypass’ is increasing at a pace that might alarm some people.
While this feed issue is manageable if you Pause Your Watch History and Clear Your Watch History before doing so; it does disable a lot of suggestions.
Unfortunately Google and YouTube do not make these options easy to find and they are quick to nag you about turning them back on; and You Must Refuse This and ignore the errors and whines at every prompt for a while before they leave you alone.
So by it’s very nature NewPipe completely defuses this garbage by simply being a much saner front-end than using the “Native” YouTube apps ever were.
You know I think YouTube might start learning their lesson if more and more people began refusing to use their scummy front-end more than strictly necessary. Unfortunately they’re going to go through the usual stages of grief while doing so and they absolutely are currently trying to attack apps like GrayJay and NewPipe with spurious lawsuits.
So instead; maybe those of you who “Pay” for YouTube Premium should simply cancel your service and start donating that amount to projects like NewPipe, when that is possible. (Yes I know Team NewPipe will not accept donations for legal reasons, but similar projects do exist, like FreeTube or Invidious, that can and do accept donations to cover costs for server hosted things in their developments.)
You would be surprised how hard it can be sometimes to source batteries due to shipping rules and regulations; as well as the general difficulty surrounding just building your own battery pack…which can end badly if you aren’t an electronic engineer or similar professional who knows exactly what they are doing.
I must warn you of the dangers of pushing batteries in a failure state like this though; Lithium batteries can sometimes fail in explosive ways.

I’ve always disliked Brave for their carelessness in pursuing their business needs, adding stupid things like worthless crypto to try to buy out the advertisers and selling out their search indexing to the highest bidder.
Instead of just going the meta-search route by indexing by themselves; spreading out queries to multiple services; caching results; and just providing the results to users privately like a real company offering privacy would; they just gave up and let Bing do all of it.
They could’ve even negotiated their API usage and allowed for relevant ‘in-result list ads’ that were clearly marked as Ads without compromising the privacy of their search services to help defray costs of hitting the APIs of bigger players like Google, Yahoo or Bing and allowing advertisements relevant to queries to flow without compromising on user’s privacy or letting big advertisers know who’s searching what.
Additionally Brave has done a number of other shady things that on the surface might be advertised as helping your privacy; but really isn’t. In my opinion they should have hard-abandoned Chromium over Manifest v3 and rebased onto Firefox to keep their browser from becoming less privacy respecting overall.
Actually; with the right plugins and configuration…even JS identification can be obscured in Firefox. I’ve done it before on Windows.
That wouldn’t please the airlines but yeah; flights should halt if there’s no ATC who is legally available.
ATCs should be hard restricted to 8 hour shift maximums, with a hard enforced 16 hours off. No 'if’s, 'and’s, or 'but’s, about it. They get 8 hours of work and 16 hours of rest.
Airlines and Airport Operators alike should be required to pitch in to find and secure these professionals’ stable jobs, shifts and ensure their function is at it’s peak.
ATC is no joke. If you aren’t clear headed and alert; you will make mistakes and that can end in tragedy. Regulations must be in place to prevent these folks from getting overworked to the point they become dangerously fatigued; much like we do with Commercial Drivers.

I wouldn’t be too creeped out about this, it’s just a lucky guess; Firefox cannot access your clipboard history, nor does it allow websites to do so. Furthermore websites cannot read your clipboard unless you have them focused as the active window and you click on a text field in that web page. Once again Firefox here is protecting you and most browsers behave the same way anyways. They don’t get data about clipboard contents at all until they’re focused. CAVEAT: If you were using Google Sheets or a spreadsheet application ONLINE that IS IN YOUR BROWSER then we have a different story. For sake of simplicity I assume you are using something like LibreOffice Calc or Microsoft Excel.

This can even get spookily accurate if it even only knows your gender and age range based on what you watch. RECOMMENDATION: Clear your Watch History and keep it Paused.
Discord actually does load the video embed / information from the YouTube API. But unless you’re living in SF; this is not linking back to you unless you are clicking on those videos at all. However, if you are loading Discord in your Browser; YouTube might be able to make some weird fingerprinting connections. The solution is simple: Download Discord Desktop and install it…or if you don’t like Discord software you can always use Beeper ( https://www.beeper.com/ ) which is slightly more privacy preserving, but has limitations. Alternately you can isolate Discord tabs to a Private Window.

This is factually wrong; as installed plugins aren’t accessible to just any webpage…and plugins actually exist that obscure this anyways.
Not to mention there’s more hardened forks of modern browsers that don’t share plugin information anyways.
