Giving and receiving gold was surprisingly, one of my least favourite things. Someone gave me gold once and i felt beholden to say thank you? I didnt ask for it, i didnt comment in hopes of getting given “gold”. I never gave anyone else gold. Why would i give a shit about getting it myself? Its a fucking forum.

What we need is a group of “hackers” like lizard squad back in the day (yes the dumb hacker trend we had) to DOS or spam threads with bots. Or DOS reddit mods and admins of larger useless subs that arent considered critical resources for important real life shit.

Yes im condoning dumb shit that got old over 10 years ago, but at this point… does it matter?? May aswell just be dicks with it.

So you cant advertise within the stream. Or in twitches words, “having ads baked into the video”.

They’re doing it so that THEY can do it and not the streamer, which means they have a monopoly on whats advertised and how the sponsorship money is distributed. They’re also putting strict policy changes onto what can and cant be advertised. Some of the things they’re denying advertisement for is politics, vapes, drugs and DRUG REHABILITATION/RECOVERY SERVICES and other things. Some of that is understandable and soem of it not so much, but some of it is kinda messed up when you consider they allowing the advertisement of alcohol, but NOT drug recovery services.

Yeah, If its just me on my own instance i would only have to run it when im actually using lemmy. Saving energy on my own, and bandwidth and load on other instances maybe?

Yeah your issue is youre looking it from the perspective of a cancer cell. Growth isnt always good. Too much growth and you run out of resources. Keeping things sustainable and self sufficient and not reliant on loans and “infinite growth” ponzi economics tends to work better in the long run. (Example: libraries)
