It’s sunny and around 20 here in Newy, though the wind is a little chilly today, looks like the weekend will be similar too.
I’ve found it can be a little resource intensive - though I only used it for a couple of projects and haven’t tried it again!
Luckily we don’t spend a lot of money comparative to our income, our habits haven’t changed but our discretionary spend and grocery bill has increased a bunch. I can’t imagine how others are currently coping with the cost of living.
Universal Basic Income sounds good in theory and personally I can see the benefits, though I doubt society would ever fully accept such a policy.
I do think that in the long term as more of our work becomes automated as technology accelerates something is going to have to change, UBI could be one answer to this issue.
I’ve mostly used kdenlive and have had a pretty positive experience, +1 from me
It’s hard to tell at this point, in my opinion we need more active general communities before becoming too specific. It’s been a little overwhelming seeing the fragmentation of communities across instances here on Lemmy. Hopefully something happens to improve the experience, I’m liking being involved so far though!
I hadn’t heard of this game but I’m definitely going to add it to my list to watch out for, thanks for sharing!
Same here, I never really participated over there though, always just lurked around on Reddit. I’m taking some time to be a little more active over here and see if this takes off.
Good. Hopefully this passes and policy continues to squash this shit industry into the ground.
Rephrasing something I’ve heard before, if you have to gamble to enjoy something then you probably don’t actually enjoy it (sports, pubs, etc.)
I’d be down for this too, I haven’t found a lively community for MTG / Commander / EDH yet, which is the major CCG format I play.
I agree that being more general might help to produce more active communities to start with. Perhaps over time as people are requesting more communities there should be a voting threshold or poll system to see if enough people are interested before fragmenting a general community into more specific ones?
Does anyone think it would worth reaching out to any of the existing mods / users of some of these subreddits (like AusFinance) to see if they would get involved here on Lemmy?
As with all things user driven these new communities are going to need people to generate content.
I actually might start to lurk some of these larger Reddit’s again to steal content for this instance to help get things started.
Not that I agree with the government considering introducing new taxes after they explicitly stated that they wouldn’t, but your proposed scenario is a little disingenuous (also ending your comment with ‘Wake up x
’ is fairly cliche at this point).
There are plenty of disadvantaged elderly Australians who are living in poverty and being treated like second class citizens based on their age, I’m sure that in most cases this money would be used to aid this group of people rather than the cashed up, multi-property owning boomers.
The mentioned task force is also considering increasing taxes for the mentioned wealthy older generation to help support their peers who haven’t done so well for themselves, which sounds like a more fair proposition to me (someone who is not in that group).
I’ve read the lemmy.ml is struggling to handle it’s currently level of traffic, perhaps that’s also causing issues federating with aussie.zone
Agreed, I believe there should be more policy and legislation from the top down rather than being conscious of my own behaviours when it comes to privacy.
There should be harsher penalties for corporations or individuals found selling or leaking user data. There have been a number of high profile data breaches in Australia recently that I found went quiet far too quickly.
There are some newer posts over there when sorting by ‘New’, I have no idea why the ‘Hot’ posts are so old with no activity on them though.
I agree that we should either have a new community here or add a link to the other community in a sticky / server sidebar note so that we can have more general discussion somewhere.
Looks like there is one on lemmy.ml.
Hopefully that link works, I thnk I found the correct format to send people there without leaving this instance.
Just deleted my ~13 year old account, I was never attached to it much, mostly lurked on subreddits that I enjoyed. Looking to be more active on lemmy though!
Awesome! Do you work in graphic design or is it a hobby of yours?
Sounds like they’re going to look great.
