I mean there are 10,000 Palestinians in Israeli prisons. And they’ve also been arresting loads of Palestinians today in Jerusalem and the West Bank, like they’re trying to make up the numbers

They have to, Israel depends largely on slave labor and cheap essentially forced Palestinian labor.

Slave labour? Where do you get that?

Relatively labour from Gaza, yes, how is it forced??

If your answer is they have no other option, then how is Israel to blame?? Israel left Gaza and this is what it became - a terrorist playground. It could have been a developed country with all the Quatar money. Instead all the money was invested to make the place into one gigantic military facility, and enrich the hamas leaders.

            Many

From human Rights watch one of the many times they’ve told Israel they’re fucking up.

They live in an open air concentration camp with limited infrastructure and not enough jobs that pay livable wages. They have to work for Israel because it’s their only option since Egypt refuses to allow most people to enter Egypt.

Because Israel are the ones destroying businesses and infrastructure claiming it’s related to Hamas, most of the time there is no power or water. Quatar doesn’t give a shit about Gaza or gazans they care about fucking with Israel, don’t be dense. It’s quite literally not a military facility, you’re not allowed weapons, no bunkers, no standing army, no groups of military aged men are allowed to congregate without Israel getting upset. You need to actually read about the history of the area bud.

I’ll read these. I trust haarets.

Blaming the condition Gaza is in on Israel and only Israel is giving Gaza no responsibility for anything, and makes sure nothing changes for decades. Can Israel do better, yes? Is Israel at fault for everything wrong with Gaza? Definitely not. Free palestine should be a call to get rid of hamas. That’s the first step towards any progress. Israel used to be under pressure to fix things with palestinians. Now there is none to reach out to. This plays to the hands of our shitty fanatic and religious government as well as hamas. The extremes gain power and support in these horrible situations. The Palestinians, not hamas, and the people of Israel, not the settlers or the fanatic religious extremists, they all just want a peaceful two state solution. They don’t want war, they don’t care about the occupied territories (other than a means to ensure security). Gaza should have been an example of how the Palestinians take their destiny into their hands. They were not supposed to have an army, that saves money for what is really needed. They could have had infrastructure, they could have had a real, functioning country. Instead hamas took power and kept them as refugees. Hamas made the place a prison, not Israel. What did hamas expect Israel to do after the October 7th attack?? They done care about their own people, they hide behind them.

I’d one thing is clear after the attack, is that we cannot live as neighbours with hamas. Not sure what the solution is, but a ceasefire is to hamas a means to prepare the next attack.

I hope we get rid of our government very soon, but this time a sane, pragmatic, secular, or left wing leaning government hasn’t got the option to reach its hand in peace. There is no going back to pre October 7th world.

I tried to make it varied so there would be less doubt.

It’s not solely on Israel, but it majority their issue. Without hamas Palestine still wouldn’t be free, the West Bank notably devoid of hamas isn’t free or autonomous and Israel makes incursions into sovereign territory daily aducting whoever they please.

You are correct, the people of Israel differ greatly from their government but that doesn’t actually change anything until they change their government.

They don’t have an army, they have an insurgency that parades as a government. They can’t have infrastructure while a right wing Israel exists, this has been proven time and time again hell, the West Bank doesn’t have adequate infrastructure either and it has nothing to do with hamas and everything to do with an Israeli government that morally and legally do not see the gentile as people. This is only proven more by gentile isrealis having fewer civil rights.

Why do we care what an insurgency expected? Does it change anything? Do we expect extremists to act with foresight and logic?

The ceasefire is a mess to prepare both sides, Israel says straight up they do not see an end to their attacks in Gaza once the halt is over they already said they’re just going to keep hitting targets that by definition are largely civilian.

It’s not going to happen. Israel will always be right wing, they got there with Lehi and haganah committing terrorism against mandatory Palestine and specifically against left leaning Jews and prominent Islamists.

We can pray for unicorns and rainbows but historically that isn’t what will happen, the violent right will seize absolute control and keep it. Just watch and see.

There are slightly less than half of that.

Whay do you mean by make up the number?

Hamas askes for prisoners by name. They are not just any palestinian. They are hamas people with blood on their hands. So Israel can’t just gather a bunch of people off the street to release to hamas.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

GAZA/ISRAEL-GAZA BORDER, Nov 24 (Reuters) - Hamas fighters released 24 hostages on Friday during the first day of the war’s first truce, including Israeli women and children and Thai farm workers, after guns fell silent across the Gaza Strip for the first time in seven weeks.

Thai and Filipino farmworkers employed in southern Israel were among around 240 hostages dragged back to Gaza by gunmen when Hamas fighters launched a killing spree on Oct. 7.

In Khan Younis town in southern Gaza, streets filled with people venturing out of home and shelters into a landscape of buildings flattened into heaps of rubble.

In northern Gaza’s combat zone, viewed from across the fence in southern Israel, there was no sign of the warplanes that have thundered through the sky for weeks, explosions on the ground or the contrails of Hamas rocketfire.

But Abu Ubaida, spokesperson for Hamas’ armed wing, said in a video message that this was a “temporary truce” and called for an “escalation of the confrontation…on all resistance fronts”, including the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant spoke similarly: “This will be a short pause, at the conclusion of which the war (and) fighting will continue with great might and will generate pressure for the return of more hostages.”
