Corsair announced today that the company is acquiring boutique keyboard manufacturer Drop as the company plans to improve its mechanical keyboard and accessories offering for gaming enthusiasts.

    Yeah, the original model of Massdrop was really cool. “Group buying niche items to get a better deal than what you can get by buying them individually” was such a great idea, and provided a way for small manufacturers to reach a larger number of customers at once.

    Now everything I see on there is readily available from the original maker, Drop just has them with a Drop-themed color scheme. I don’t care about Drop as a brand, I only liked it as a tool for buying hard-to-get things from smaller businesses. But it seems to be working really well for them, so the original Massdrop won’t be coming back anytime soon. :(
