Speaking to Christian Zionist group, Florida governor and Republican US presidential candidate pledges support for Israel.

Washington, DC – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination, has reiterated claims that the West Bank is not occupied, suggesting that Israel should be able to continue to build settlements on the Palestinian territory without interference from the United States.

Speaking to Christians United for Israel (CUFI) on Monday, DeSantis underscored his pro-Israel bona fides, including his efforts to crack down on companies that boycott the US ally.

Keep in mind that Christian zionists see Jewish settlement of Israel as part of the prophecy of revelations / second coming of Jesus.

That’s why they’re so supportive of this

There is a deep irony in the fact that Israel’s most rabid supporters in the west are also the most anti-semitic.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Of course he’d say this; aside from being a dumb piece of shit, he believes the bible is meant to be taken literally and that Israel must be full of only Jews for Revelations to happen.

Holy fuck is that what these regressive dipshits care about Israel for? They want to see the creation of specific set of conditions for an apocalypse mythos, like some tribunal of cloaked doomsday cultists out of a cartoon?

Yes. Literally. Welcome to the group Christians United for Israel. Remember when you read “return of the Messiah” that to them this means the apocalyptic end of the world. And they’re hoping to cause it to happen. These cultists are so far out to lunch, and they were just in the White House. It’s terrifying.

"A critical issue for hardline Zionists and their Christian allies is the location of the ruins of the first and second Jewish Temples beneath the al-Aqsa mosque compound, the third most revered site of Islam. A fundamental tenet of the Christian Zionist theory is that a new temple be built upon those ancient ruins.

The Christian Zionists are vehement that this be done to fulfill prophecy. They believe that once construction of the new Temple is complete the return of the Messiah will be inevitable."

Eh. I am atheist, but brought up in a more liberal Christian church. The congregants never had much time for such nonsense.

        You werent aware of that?

A lot of christofascists in America, especially American government, Think the state of Israel must exist for the end of days to happen, Which is why the US has such a twisted and insistent support for Israel.

Its literally a doomsday cult. Only they won’t be raptured when shit hits the fan.

This is world news, you have a potential president denying Israelite occupation of West Bank despite overwhelming evidence of Israel building settlements in the territory.

He is not denying that they are building settlemens. He just doesn’t consider it occupation. Anything for more donors, I suppose.

Why would you reevaluate your position when you’re getting exactly what you want though? If you think he’s accidentally stumbled into fascist support, you’re blind. He’s specifically targeting fascist support. It does him good; I personally think he also truly believes in fascism, but either way, it does serve his goals.

Not DeSantis. He’s obviously fishing in the right edge.
I’m talking about Israel, which vehemently denied being fascist and would call anyone anti-Semite who claimed otherwise, last time I checked. I admit I wasn’t extremely thorough in my research.

You mean the Israeli government lead by an extremist right-wing party who is trying to dismantle judicial oversight over executive and legislative power? Why would they be opposed to support from similar political groups in the US?

Yes, those. Again, it’s not a topic I’m actively following, so I’m not aware of them admitted to being fascists.
