Very new to gardening. Very happy my garden hasn’t died with all the crazy rain we’re getting here!

Any friendly advice for these crazy cucumbers? They keep expanding! (2 squash on the right, 4 cucumbers to the left of them, then lettuce). Definitely going to give everything more room next year.

How do you get away with not having a fence? If I did that I’d be watching the bunnies have the time of their lives.

Oh, and as for the cucumbers: start thinking about recipes now. You always get way more or way less than what you wanted. Pickling is pretty easy to do: you can even buy a jar of pickles, eat the pickles, and then soak your cucumbers in the juice for a bit to make half sours.

Mediterranean salads are another option. Or just dipping slices in olive oil and tossing with cayenne powder.

Few people told me to just plant marigolds around and I’ll be fine. I honestly don’t see many rabbits around here either - so seems to be working for me!

Damn, Im jealous! My cucumber plant has had a hard summer. Way too much rain my way too.

Many people stake their cucumber plants so they grow upwards instead of outwards. This helps prevent them from taking up as much space and keeps the cucumbers from rotting on the ground.

Definitely not too late. You can even just tie the vines onto a stake with some twine. Lots of ways people do it.
