It seems that there are going to be some api changes in lemmy version 0.19 which will break all the current apps unless they are updated to account for the api changes.

This post is just to ensure that @aeharding@lemmy.world and other users are aware of this. I will also open an issue on github.

No it wouldn’t. The community wants to use a polished experience, not a turd.

Are you implying that the current experience with voyager is turd¿?

I wouldn’t say it’s a turd, but with Lemmy itself in a constant state of development there are some cracks appearing in Voyager. And it shows that it’s not being actively maintained.

From incompatibility with new versions through things like scrolling to top when coming back from a link to images not sharing correctly.

          From incompatibility with new versions

Lemmy version 0.19 has not been released yet and will not be at least for 3 weeks so voyager is currently compatible. Most of the clients out there are incompatible with 0.19 for now. Harsh to blame only voyager.

The other issues are genuine bugs though and it would be nice if they are fixed but voyager is an open source project so if people feel strongly about these issues, maybe they can contribute some code to fix the issues.

My point is that voyager was there when we needed it the most during the early phase of lemmy expansion when the PWA was called wefwef and we should be here when the dev is busy with other things.
