With the discontinuation of most of the third party reddit apps, it looks like Relay might try a subscription model. They seem to think a 2-3 dollar a month subscription might cover the API costs.

I’ve got no confidence in Reddit going forward, they may just up the price, introduce even more stringent conditions on third party apps, but for people who might be tempted to stay, would you consider doing this monthly subscription approach?

I don’t see how is that a solution when users are indirectly paying for the API cost to keep third party app afloat.

If I recall correctly with the new changes there is no access to NSFW content outside of official app.

Huge W for reddit and L for everyone else.

Reddit walk away with the money and who knows what they will pull next. What if they find some BS reason to introduce a subscription model as well because free users aren’t generating enough revenue? What then.

Even if reddit backtrack on the upcoming changes moving forward I will only visit reddit if it comes up during my google search.
