Hello,

I’ve been trying to log into my main account on Lemmy.world (same username) and eventually through enough Googles discovered the account has been banned for CSAM. I’ve just been posting popular content from Reddit and Danbooru to the Lemmy.nsfw federation. I wasn’t aware what CSAM even meant before today or that those sites allowed that. I’m just trying to add (supposedly popular) content to the community, not break rules because some artist made a piece that crossed the line. I can switch to this lemmy.nsfw profile if you wish it of course, but I don’t want future posts to be getting the community defederated either. With anime characters the artists always are pulling the whole “Oh yeah they’re over 18” card and those communities I’m reposting from clearly buy it. What standards are you looking for to define CSAM? I’ll be sure to avoid reposting that content on lemmyNSFW in the future. If petite gals are too much of a risk, users can find them elsewhere. Sorry to have grabbed undue attention.

Edit: I’ll just err on the side of caution and ensure future posts favor those on the curvier side of the spectrum unless clearer standards for guessing anime women ages are established. Should any of you have additional advice or want a specific future post removed please let me know. I want this place to replace Reddit. Not become a CP den

Exactly! I don’t even wanna have to make judgement calls on this stuff. I just came over with the Reddit Exodus and wanted to help grow the community by easy reposts. I literally just grab crap from the “hot/popular” pages, throw on a title and post. On Reddit I didn’t even have to post and deal with making age calls on fictional people. It sucks

How are they this out of touch? Either they think they’ll get sympathy for being banned or they don’t think they’ve done anything wrong.

      What the hell?

I’m literally just reposting crap and I was hoping to get the account unbanned if possible. I wanted to ask the mods of lemmy.world what I should do so it wouldn’t happen again. I was trying to grow the site not play “Guess the anime characters” age. I figured the moderation on those sites was adequate. I was clearly incorrect. I’d personally prefer not to post at all but the communities are still small

You were banned for posting lolicon. We go on a per case basis of what looks too young for drawn content, and what you posted looked far too young by both lemmynsfw standards and lemmy.worlds. It wasn’t subjective opinion, it was pretty clear.

In that case I apologize. I must have misjudged the age pretty severely for you to say that so confidently. I avoid posting any Moe “1000 year old dragon” obvious loli crap but I’ve been posting an absolute ton and I must have just fucked up. Brain off, eyes bleary, whatever the case I’ll ensure it doesn’t happen again. If possible, can you tell me the artist it was? I source all my posts and I’ll just personally blacklist them from my postings to avoid future mistakes. It would be nice to figure what insanity inspired me to make that mistake.

Non consensual picture sharing can occur in non-nsfw contexts, too. What are you gonna do, block all pictures depicting humans unless they prove explicit consent to the mods?

The fact that I can’t fix all issues in the world doesn’t prevent me from trying to fix one that can be controlled.
