Just added wefwef to my home pages in place of Apollo. There’s almost no upskilling from Apollo to wefwef - they’re very very similar. Also, I can’t believe web apps have come so far in the traditional ‘app’ user experience.

I was going to say that it wefwef needs a comment sorting update…but it’s been done since I last tried it. Right on.

As in intermediary between you and your primary server, what security is in place to prevent wefwef or similar from leaking your user/pass?

Took me a second to figure out reply (click on the triple dots), but I just gave wefwef it a try, and like it a lot. I will add my own recommendation to this.

I’ve always been in the “not everything needs to be an app” camp. Wefwef is currently the best in the “not app” category IMO.

Yeah we can argue till the chooks come home whether PWA counts as an app; but everyone has a browser, so a PWA makes it easier for me to get people on board, whether they’re running Android, Apple, PC, or potato.

I use my browser. Reason why mobile apps gotten popular on reddit because the website is absolute trash. Lemmy doesn’t have this problem.

I don’t want a million apps that all want all permissions to do shitty things with my information and slow down my phone when I can have 1 app called a browser.

Only ever used old.reddit.com, and now I use that less and less every day and just go to aussie.zone 😜

I was one of the stubborn old reddit users too but I feel that an app makes shitposting much more convenient.

I’m using the native lemmy PWA for signup approvals, and a mix of Jerboa and wefwef for general viewing. Wefwef seems more refined, but Jerboa shows avatar icons etc. I’m hoping that as the apps mature they’ll make some of the visibility settings togglable.

I’m using Memmy on iPhone/iPad. Not that that helps you currently. I know the Memmy dev plans to make a android version. I think once the iOS one is out of beta.

Different developers. Memmy has an actual iPad mode that MLem so far doesn’t have. I feel like the each miss or have different features that the other has. I guess its all down to feature to do lists being different in terms of order. I prefer Memmy over MLem at this point, but I use my iPad a lot for reddit and now this.

I posted a table to this community a while back, not sure if it has been updated since then.

I use Jerboa, Thunder, wefwef.app (PWA), and the official PWA. I’ll only ever use a FOSS app as an ethical choice.

I use the PWA for posting mainly. I’ll use an app for browsing All as the PWA has the progress reset issue. Usually I keep mucking around with them on a cycle, particularly after updates. wefwef gets updated quite frequently it seems. Edit: Github has it at very frequently - https://github.com/aeharding/wefwef/releases

    List of apps:

Connect, but the creator of Boost for Reddit has a pre-Register open for his new project Boost for Lemmy

Boost was the best Reddit app I ever used and although I’m primarily Kbin Boost would make me switch.

Android, using Connect. Previously I was using Reddit Sync and I find the UI to be very similar. Loads quickly and easy to view.

I’m using Jerboa, visually it looks similarish to RIF if you reduce the font size. But it feels very buggy still, like it seems you can only sort by All on your homescreen as when you select Subscriptions it doesn’t work.

I’m Android and switching between default, Connect, and Liftoff. I’m enjoying both despite little niggles.

I also found out that Boost for Lemmy is coming! You can search it on the play store. I’m excited because it was my app of choice for the old place.

I have tried two, Jerboa and Connect, both on android. I personally like Jerboa more, Connect doesn’t seperate the posts very well visually.

I’m using Jerboa, as it was the first one I found, but am waiting to try the new Sync for Lemmy when it’s available.
