Are you seriously suggesting an open border?

No. Illegal entry and overstays should still be handled/prosecuted. But for those that want to immigrate the process should be usable, as of right now it isn’t. There are people who have been on the wait list for years, spending thousand of dollars that they don’t have to begin with because latin american jobs don’t pay well. So lots of then try to bypass it.

Instead or pissing away resources on it, it would be far better to let them work and pay taxes. A lot of them are already paying taxes. Fine by me if they stay.

    In a country with welfare?

Immigrants do not qualify for most forms of welfare. My girlfriend was born in the U.S., lived in a foreign country for most of her life, then came back and became disabled. She was not eligible for a shit load of things because she had no work history, despite being a full U.S. citizen.

For actual immigrants it is even worse. So this point of yours doesn’t hold any water, especially considering that immigrants are a net benefit to the economy (and therefore tax revenue).

And those are not infinite. If we dont use them wisely, we will run into shortages.

I never said they were infinite. But we got plenty to spare.

30,000 was enough to overwhelm NYC, with a population of 23 million.

30,000 dropped off haphazardly, without warning, all at once, in a single city. You’re ignoring all the reasons why it was problematic.

We are doing “stupid shit with our taxes and land” by letting illegals overwhelm us.

    https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/11/16/what-we-know-about-unauthorized-immigrants-living-in-the-us/

10m/331mil = 3% of the population. That’s not overwhelming in the least.

    https://www.britannica.com/topic/baby-boomers

The baby boomers exploded the population by 50%, and they didn’t start working until their teens.

Comparatively, most immigrants are able bodied when they get here from day one, and able to provide for themselves unlike during the baby boomers.

We handled the baby boomers, therefore we can handle a fraction of the impact of immigration.

You claimed laws dont apply to so-called “refugees”

    No I didn’t.

We’re just talking in circles, but I already wrote this up, so here.

No. Illegal entry and overstays should still be handled/prosecuted. But for those that want to immigrate the process should be usable, as of right now it isn’t. There are people who have been on the wait list for years, spending thousand of dollars that they don’t have to begin with because latin american jobs don’t pay well. The process is already usable. It just takes a bit because 7 million in 3 years, we as a country can not take that many that quickly, so we make them wait their turn.

Instead or pissing away resources on it, it would be far better to let them work and pay taxes. A lot of them are already paying taxes. Fine by me if they stay.

Yes paying sales when you buy a stick of gum is technically paying taxes, but no. They are not stealing people’s identities just so they can pay taxes.

Schools are welfare. Fire fighters are welfare. Roads are welfare (just ask /c/fuckcars about this one) Welfare is not just straight up giving people medicare and medicaid.

I never said they were infinite. But we got plenty to spare.

Not that much, and we won’t have any if we keep pissing it away.

30,000 dropped off haphazardly, without warning, all at once, in a single city. You’re ignoring all the reasons why it was problematic.

WTF do you think illegal immigrating is?

10m/331mil = 3% of the population. That’s not overwhelming in the least.

Yes it is, just look at NYC. We’re talking in circles here.

The baby boomers exploded the population by 50%, and they didn’t start working until their teens.

We didn’t need to deploy the military because of them either, or spend a billion dollars. We’ve been over this. Maybe it’s the fact they didn’t illegally immigrate, and had families to take care of them, instead of the state?

      No I didn’t.

      Yes you did.

They can use an ein for that purpose. Hell if we found an illegal alien using an ein. I’d fully support them getting a visa
