I used to think i only told people about my autism in order to feel more comfortable or trusting. I suppose that’s part of it but i’ve begun to realize that the trust is what encourages me to share.

I want to give them tools to understand our communication with less friction.

Obviously I must continue to use my own tools to better understand the people around me but if i can avoid causing suffering before it happens ill do that too.

That’s good. It’s rough though, I really have to be selective about who I share with because sometimes it’s really changes the friendship dynamic. Relationships are hard

I wish I could see statistics on how many conflicts are actually just based in misunderstanding

It’s especially rough through text with fellow autistic people. It’s like a knife fight were everyone gets cut.

That last sentence is exactly what I think / how I behave. If my actions/choices hurt someone, it’s absolutely my fault and “warning” them in no way absolves me or dilutes responsibility but if by “warning” them I can reduce the harm (from some potential miscommunication) then that is absolutely preferable to me than to unexpectedly harm someone to save my own mask.
