Quick question. I bought a phone and it’s locked. Factory reset but requires the previous owners google to unlock. It’s an insurance sale. I have asked the seller to update me on any info but haven’t had a reply.

Is the phone a very expensive brick ?.

No response from them. I’ll keep trying.

Literally all I’ve seen. I asked if it was stolen and they stayed it was an insurance situation. So Im waiting on a response. I was hoping it was unlocked. If not I’ll request refund. However I’ll have lost 30 to pay 30

Bro if it sounds too good to be true it is. Of course they aren’t going to tell you its stolen. 🙄

Go to your local police station with info on the seller and report it. As it is you are most likely in possession of stolen property, which “a reasonable person ought to have known” was stolen. Could be part of a larger stolen goods ring, maybe your tip will help shut them down so the next person doesn’t get fucked too.

I mean obviously but I can just report the sale. It’s on a well known site and I think stolen things get quick responses. It was going cheap and then a phone company knocked the price up. Meaning they can unlock it.

Potentially but I think it’s pretty unlikely. Looking at similar sellers and the sellers other listings. They buy in bulk insurance write offs and sell the products for profit.

Depending on your brand/model, there are often holes in the FRP that you can leverage to bypass it. I wouldn’t buy software claiming to unlock, hopefully you have a no pc option available like using google assistant or a browser to trigger settings to pop up.

        Some phones have ADB methods.

Presumably you could make the company that sold it to you take it back or do a chargeback if it was on a credit card.
