Just started using the above setup and gotta say this is the bees bollox - I’m so impressed by just how fluid it all works - free from an insane price too - it just works flawlessly!

I’ve got to add in here - Unchained (F-droid) which connects to an RD account and allows to search stuff and either ‘aside’ for later or download immediately - the app (imho) is wicked and definately worth checking out and supporting.

The great stuff aside, I have one general question: feel free to add more…

Saving stuff: I know that torrentio will save links into my RD account for me to pick up later, but can I get it to auto download into a folder of my choice - to any folder on my network? I can get it to save onto my phone (via Unchained) but then I’ve got to transfer it into my library.

I’m looking for a easy/lazy way I guess.

Any thoughts?

    I don’t think you will be able to get anything to download to another device using any of these services. I use Unchained to get things saved to my RD area, then I run a script on my NAS to download to it (the NAS). You could maybe get something to work if you were able to mount a network drive onto your phone. Then maybe you could get the phone to download to that mounted drive, instead of to the phone’s internal storage. I can access files on network devices from my Android phone and tablet using an app like Xplore, but I’ve never tried to see if I could have Android mount a network drive, so I am just speculating.

      I’m thinking maybe mount as you say using Xplore and bring in Syncthing to move the file across onto the server. Thanks for the idea.

        I was actually trying to describe having the server folder mounted directly on the Android device, so the download would go straight to the server and never touch your device storage. This would be separate from using Xplore, which doesn’t do what I’m thinking of. I tried mounting my NAS as smb using the app in the the below explanation, but it wasn’t working.

          Yeah, sorry - I misunderstood you. The link is good, thanks for providing it. Some of it is a little above my head, but when I look at X-plore and my plex server I can see in the properties that it’s using smb V2 to connect.

          So, I guess the means of permanently having a remote drive connected for Android to access isn’t a pipe dream. It’s now just figuring out the best way to achieve it.

          So, I’ll try to explore some of that links info and see if I can get anywhere with it.

            If you figure it out, let me know. I would love to do this. I have app installed on my tablet and have the smb information entered, but it doesn’t show up as Android storage like they describe.

              Hi, on f-droid there’s an app called Android Samba Client but I can’t get it to connect to my shared folder because of permissions - it says, but I can’t find a lot of documentation about it.

              Have you seen this?

              I’m hoping that it’s not connecting because of something I’m doing wrong - and maybe I can figure it out later (poss. because of my lack of understanding on my part of the way plex should share permissions with other devices).

              If you get anywhere further, please let me know. - it just doesn’t seem to be a well covered topic unfortunately.

                Just based on the wide variety of comments in that Reddit post, it sounds like there are many things that can prevent this from working. I don’t know all the details of what can go wrong, but it might depend on Android version or any customizations that various manufacturers may have implemented in their Android device.

                There probably isn’t a single solution to getting this to work, and your problem could possibly be different than my problem.
