What other secrets is Sony keeping from me?

Fair enough. It’s free to use, and I figured it was appropriate for this community.

I was just excited to share because it’s hard to read in-game text when I play on my poky little budget projector.

It’s fine. They probably saw my post cruising All. In that context talking about products and services randomly can appear buzz-markety. I’ve commented in that vein a few times myself, so I get it.

Sony probably need to promote their new streaming client PS Portal and telling people they can use their old devices as well isn’t a good way to do so. But noone will say that officially I guess :)

Ps5 remote play works differently, uses lower latency, and higher quality codecs. They don’t care about the three people who might want to play via ps vita.

How about play share? It’s been out for years but I doubt many people know of it (or probably use it). A few of my friends were on party chat and talked about it because we thought it was gone, after looking it still exists and we tried it out just to try it. Worked great but it does feel like something that has a very specific need so not many will use it.

Edit: also another one is if you do save screenshots or video from games if you also have the ps app on your phone you can easily access the last 14 days of content so you can download them. I think this is pretty new and only been around a few years now, before that it was still something you could do but required more steps and it only worked with screenshots and not video I think.

I don’t really do social media or any of that, and didn’t like the share button when it was added (I still can’t stand using the touchpad as select), but the ease of getting gameplay onto my phone to share with a friend in respectable quality is definitely really nice.

Remote play is tolerable for games that are forgiving of latency (turn based, some slower combat if you’re willing to die a few extra times), but the latency is definitely there regardless of network quality.

I don’t know! I’m a pretty antisocial gamer, so whenever I hit share by accident I’ve been too annoyed by the Dreaded Social Media Button to actually consider it as an option…

At a glance it looks like you can share games for just one hour? That should be enough for most people on most days, but perhaps that’s why it never caught on. People are limit-averse. Might try talking a long distance friend into it as an experiment. Thanks!
