Jurgen, thank you for lifting us out of the morass we were in. For bringing heavy metal football. For the trophies and the near-misses. For that Barca come back at Anfield. For making better players out of so many. For all the magical moments.

He’s been amazing, it’s a very sad day.

I liked what he was saying though about it being a beginning. He’s left Slot a very good, if not perfect, team, with a combination of very talented and experienced pros who still have years left in them, and a load of great young players who have shown that they can step up when needed.

Not many managers get to leave on their own terms like this, and I’m glad he has been able to. Well played Jürgen.

Yeah I felt like he was going to leave a few years ago, but I think he stayed a few more years to rebuild the squad so he can leave it in a good place. I think owners wasted a few years of Klopp era by not getting players we needed.

When you look at the state of Man United today, with their worst ever Prem-era finish, it really hammers home what a mess Ferguson left them in, with an aging squad and very little basis for the next stage.

No matter what happens under Slot, nobody can say that Klopp has repeated that mistake.
