Camping opportunities are relatively rare in Europe, but this island in Malta has cheap camping. on the other inhabited islands (Malta and Good), public transit, restrooms, and wifi are plentiful and local food is extremely cheap. You can get local tfira for a couple euros or a passtizzi filled with peas or cheese for even less. With an ultralight pack, all of Gozo is walkable, though the island of Malta is split by a largely impassable highway. I’d recommend the bus for €2.50.

How are Camping opportunities rare in Europe? In multiple European countries, it’s even allowed to just camp in the wilderness. I’ve been camping in at least 6 different countries in Europe, with a tent or a campervan. From big cities to places in the middle of nowhere. It’s very possible to travel the whole of Europe in a campervan with no sweat.

Parking a vehicle isn’t what I meant by “camping”, though you’re correct in asserting that parking somewhere is often legal. I was more referring to the “freedom to roam” type of camping familiar to people from Scandinavia or North America.

Wild camping is generally illegal in much if the EU, with only a few countries reserving the right.
