Wait I love the concept of this community and am glad it migrated over, but I have to disagree with this one! Men’s deodorant really does have insane names from the top brands. These are all real names of Old Spice men’s deodorant:

    • Rock
    • Wolfthorn
    • Nightpanther
    • Krakengärd
    • Bearglove
    • Elklord
    • Mambaking
    • Eaglefangs
    • Sharkhammer

Nobody is forcing us to buy gendered deo… For some reason sheep do it on their own.

There are non gendered versions out there. For example arm and hammer unscnted… Zero gendering and cheapest option.

I think it’s the fact that scents are gendered in the first place, not that there aren’t un-gendered options.

That is true no one is forcing any of us to buy them, nor are they forcing us to obey those gender rules, I say buy whatever you think smells nice, don’t worry too much about the gender targeting of the product, it’s meaningless.

This is a great point. Or can’t forget that Busch makes a Busch lite soap now. Men’s scents are just fucking ridiculous. Women’s scents will at least vaguely describe what you’re going to smell, men’s scents are named by huffing gas and toluene for 12 hours and coming up with cool words to put into the name generator

I just rub some diesel fuel mixed with sawdust all over after a dump the shark blood over my head.

I’m a guy (at least for now) and in recent years I’ve switched to basically using “female” versions of all shower-related stuff. Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner. The female versions are just super nice, whereas the “male” stuff is often “20 in 1 shower gel” or ridiculous stuff like the image is making fun of. I’ve gotten some shit for it at some point by a certain type of men, but I’ve actually also met plenty of guys who do the same.

Times are changing tho, and it does look like more and more “male” products going the right way with actually nice scents and separate conditioners.

I buy everything neutral/sensitive or pomegranate. I just noticed my body wash brand also has a “for men”, it’s fragranced like the rest but is the only one that refuses to tell what it smells like.

The Dr Squatch stuff looks good - honestly, it’s the two actors in the commercial driving clicks - but I worry that even the ‘natural’ stuff is going to trigger allergies that make me almost a one-brand shopper – and that alone is a scary thing.

But yeah, I kinda DO wanna try smelling like a tree for a bit. Soap too, same reasons, risks, and shopping profile.

Old Spice has a few more tropical/fruity scents, which I use. Nothing against traditional “masculine” ones, but it’s nice that at least one major maker out there provides some variety.
