      As much as I agree with the criticism of “ownership” of another animal, whether dog or cat I find it especially funny when used wrt cats.

      Bruh you are your cat’s slave and they are inscrutable masters.

      We domesticated dogs, cats domesticated us.

        I like to think my cat is my friend. We have been through a lot together, more than any cat really should expect to go through in a regular house cat life. She is family to me. Cats being secret overlords rhetoric is really strange to me. I know it’s probably just flippant funnies but she’s just a goober like the rest of the family.

          yeah it’s more like you are part of a pride or a cat colony (if you have multiple cats). with just one cat it’s like you said, you are either the cats friend or permanent clever two legged parent (that didn’t drive it away)
